The daughter of the merchant Sivanesa Chettiar Angam Poompavai died when she was bitten by a snake.
Thirugnana Sambandar, a famous saint, came to Thiruvottiyur on his pilgrimage. He was invited to the Kapaleeshwarar Temple (Mylapore temple in Chennai) with a spectacular welcome. She was resurrected when Sambandar sang a hymn (a pathigam) in praise of Lord Kapaleeshwar and reached the tenth verse.
Sambandar was humble to realise that the miracle was not his power, but only the grace of God only.
