Once, Lord Vishnu had disappeared from him home. Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva arrived at Ujjainipuri in search of Lord Vishnu, and found him there. Lord Vishnu had built a magnificent place, which Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva described as golden mountain peaks. Ujjain was then called ‘Kanchan Shringa’ (golden peaks).
